Air Filter
Wuzup,
I just put in a BMC race filter on my 1000rr. I've notice or it appears to respond quicker when I roll on the throttle. I was wondering if any one out there notice the same after putting in a aftermarket filter. I had a K&N in my '00 929 and I didn't notice the same response when I put it that in originally. On my 1000rr I just have a 2Bros Vale slip-on, no pwr commander, no air flapper mod. (Yeah I know I need to add those)Maybe its because I haven't riden in a while b/c my 2 wheel horse was down with engine trouble for half of the riding season. I don't know, I just now it feels great and the POWER feelsgreater than what I remembered, its very noticible. Any thoughts?

you really need a pc3 and a map. becareful you dont run lean. if you notice your temp gauge going up quicker than normal, or noticing your riders seat gets warm while riding, DONT ride it. your running lean. get the pc3 installed and a map.
I hadn't notice the bike running hotter than before, the bike temp has always been around 225 degrees. Its cold here now low 50's and when I was out yesterday the bike got to 180 degrees. I notice before I even changed out the exhaust when I first got the bike that the riding seat got warm also and it ran about 225 to 255 degrees. It never got real hot like in the 300s. I plan to get a PC and mapped just afraid to have someone do it for fear that they may mess it up. I will keep all those things in mind and like I said I plan to get the PC, I just got a deal on the BMC filter so I had to get it.
our bikes supposedly run hella rich from the factory anyway. i know mine was 11:1 almost across the scale when i had the baseline done. you will be fine. yes a pc3 will help. only the bmc race version has been proven to increase hp and that was only 2 proven so far with a same day same bike dyno run however a little crisper throttle response is common from what i have read
Thanks fellas,
I will take all of that and run with it, I think it maybe because I haven't ridin the bike since July so maybe I've forgotten some things. I had an unfortunate engine malfunction that was no fault of my own but I was at the time getting this knockin noise from what seem to be the tensor but it wasn't to make long story short I got a new engine free or charge from Honda, so that could be it also. I'm still learning that bike and I have the manual from honda downloaded on my laptop. It will make for some interesting read over the winter months when I can't get out and ride. Hopefully it wont be a bad winter in Southern Maryland

i dont mean normal riding temps. try this out. this is how i know my pc3 dropped/lost my map on a ride. at idle (from a cold start-let temps get to 140*, then start this) , hold the throttle at a certain rpm. start at 4000, then increase by 1000rpms each time. look at the temp gauge and see if the temp climbs really fast. like 2+ degrees every 1/2- 1 second. this tells you thats its running lean. trust me on this man, this is how i figured out i couldnt use someone elses map on my bike with the same exact mods. i almost blew up my motor by running that lean. thats why i have a custom map now.
