After removing the heatshields.......
I've just fitted a new Quill slip-on to the bike.
Having taken away those really ugly "afterthought" heat shields to stop the microwave oven that is the standard can melting the undertray, I was a bit concerned about the heat from the new can doing some damage.
I know that nobody has suffered from this that has fitted an aftermarket can (yet), but being one of those people that always err on the side of caution I did this using self-adhesive aluminium tape.
Looks a bit Heath-Robinson but you don't see it when the can and rear cowl are on and it should protect the bike from the worst of the heat - even if it doesn't need it!!! (I just hope the adhesive is heat resistant).
Just another minor mod to go with all the major ones......

RE: After removing the heatshields.......
Let us know how that works out - I'm in the same situation where I don't like the stock ugliness but don't really think Honda is going to waste time, money, and weight to put on something that's not truly necessary. I'll go with the reflective tape as well, probably. Have you checked under the seat after riding to see if it's significantly hot under there?
