Default low rpm noise

I recently noticed that when I accelerate around 3k I get a little ticking noise. then it goes away and I then get the cct noise at 5k. can't hear anything above 7k. My bike has 15900 miles on it and Im wondering if it might need it's valves checked. According to the manual it needs to be done at 16k, but i did a search on here andit seems like these bikes can go much longer than that without a valve adjustment. Is a valve adjustment something that can be done by a novice? By the way my bike is an 02 f4i. I did check the oil and it was at the proper level. also is it normal for the oil light to flash until the bike is started or once off until the ignition is turned off. Thanks for the help.

Default RE: low rpm noise

valve checks and adjustments shouldn't be done by a novice, but it can be.
as far as the ticks...could also be a slight leak.

you should get valves checked...most found that all were in spec, but i'm sure at least 1 bike will need it.
