1990 CBR600F airbox questions/parts
Hey fellow "Hurricane" owners. We have the final year of the Hurricane and after removing the tank to get to the air filter and carbs, have some questions and need some parts:
On the underside of the top of the airbox there are 2 metal tubes wrapped in foam that are held under a plastic piece that bolts on with 3 bolts.
What are these metal tubes wrapped in foam for?
We've lost the metal tubes - ok to ride without them?
Anyone have the metal tubes, plastic piece that holds them in and/or the full top lid of the airbox for sale? We can't find a part number for just these metal tubes and none of the air box part diagrams show the underside of the top cover.
I'm not sure if this was the same air box from 1987-1990, it did change w' the F2. This air box is rectangle in shape, no angled sides.
This ad shows it and the metal tubes inside the plastic holder - https://www.ebay.ca/itm/276880773507

Appreciate any assistance from former or current owners.

Thanks Ed - we've found that number on a few sites. It's not the number printed on our cover (HMKT8E1) but appears to be the correct one for our airbox. We're hoping someone has a used airbox with the metal tubes attached - as those tubes are what we really need.
Big thanks to

Had the airbox parts we needed and sending at a very reasonable price!
Would still like to know what the metal foam wrapped tubes in the air box are for. Anyone???
