Default F4i RAM AIR MOD

Well im not sure what the plastic intake tube that attaches to the upper ferring has those triangle shaped canisters on it for but i pulled them off and i am just running with the rubber hoses to the air box so i basically have ram air induction but will this harm the bike what if i ride in the rain? i know water has to get in those stock air tubes when its all put together from the factory but i have a K&N filter and i was thinking about cutting those canisters off the platic intake tubes and puting a plastic cut out in them and plastic welding it together to give me the stock look with the hole system in place but with out those canisters restricing the air. Any one got any ideas or poiters or know why honda put those canisters there for?

They are probably resonators, resonators reduce intake noise.
