I'm having a problem getting my cbr600fx(f4 carb) carbs back on.When I first got it the carbs just pulled off, the clamps weren't at all tight.It took me ages, then I was told about the holes in the frame for extra long screwdrivers. Carbs off today as it has a mis fire, loose plug connector. I can got the outside carbs clamps into a position where I can get to them and tighten them . I can't get to the middle two, I've taken the carbs off a few times today and turned the clamps, I can't seem to get to them. Any ideas?Ta Ray

 

I'm not quite following. You were able to get to the clamps in order to remove them, correct?

One thing, were you removing the carbs from the rubber boots and leaving the boots connected to the intake manifold? If that's the case, try installing the boots onto the carbs, then onto the manifold The bottom clamps are easier to get to.

Since you inherited the issue, assume nothing is correct. Concerning the clamps on the boots, both upper and lower, the head of the screw for each should be facing out. If you picture the face of a clock, the screws should be pointing outward pointing towards about the 4 o'clock position. You will need a really long screwdriver of socket driver. I forget the size but I think it's 8mm.
I use a screwdriver set from Harbor Freight. The screwdriver is 22" long. Even with all that, you really have to get down and sort of make a pathway with the screwdriver.
