track teams around philly?
i just started riding bikes and im looking to get into track racing. i don't have any experience. i met a guy from team promotion, but im looking at other options for when next season starts as well. i live in west chester, PA and im looking for good teams around there and around philly for beginners like me. any help or links to teams would be great
if i remember correctly team promotions is based out of huntingdon valley. if you are looking for track day organizations based around philly they are the closest (and only one.) but their location doesn't matter since the nearest tracks are all in surrounding areas. check out nesba also, many people from the northeast use them. the closest track to you is most likely pocono, but summitt point isn't far off either. i'd recomend just getting some time on the street before signing up for a track day. you don't need a ton of experience, but knowing your bike well will make it alot more enjoyable. we've got a forum just for pennsylvania riders (pasportbikes.com) check it out there, you might be able to meet up with a few guys for your first track day.
TPM and NESBA are the biggest with the most days at Pocono and Summit (NESBA is actually based in Eastern PA, too - up near Reading, I think). Sportbike Track Time gets some days at Pocono, too (the old Reduc days). For racing, I'm not aware of any local clubs like some areas have. I don't know if there is any racing at Pocono anymore. The big, national orgs race at Summit (WERA....). Beaverun, out near P'burgh is a little longer haul but is a super-fun track.
Team Promotion
I am an associate member with them, and have done two track days with them at VIR. They runVERY safe and VERY organized events. As a bonus, your first track day, you are given an instructor and you have to be with him for at least the first half of the day and attend a class in between session (free with track day fee). If you do happen to register with them for a track day, please use my name in the referal box! Justin Hamm. Hope to see you on the track someday!
