Default Tire pressures for track newb - Pilot Power 2CT's

Hey guys,

I will be hitting Jennings up soon and it will be my first bike track day and I was hoping for some cold tire pressure recommendations. I know the heat will make them rise but by how much? In a car it was about 8 lbs after a good session.

Any help appreciated.

I found 31/30 cold to work well for me on regular PPs. Since they have the same carcass it should do fine. Just watch your tires after sessions. Dave Moss says that Michelins are sensitive to 1/2 pound but I think that's just for race tires (or maybe I'm too slow he he he he)

Interesting. More in the front than the rear huh? On the street I typically run 36/42 as per the manual.

Thanks for the reply.

On the street, I do about 32/34. I tinker with higher rear pressures sometimes though. I'm getting great tire wear. After 2 years (or has it been 3, I forget...) I'm finally beginning to see some squaring of the rear tire. I still have excellent grip.

Often overlooked, but suspension tuning can affect tire wear. When your suspension can't handle the load, guess what does....the tire.

Last yr I was running 30/30 *cold* at Willow Springs w/ Michelin PP2CT's on my 2000 CBR F4 (old banana sub). This was on new 2CT's that had been previously scrubbed in for about 100 mi. All went well & I liked the feedback they were giving me. As I'd heard every pressure combo under the sun for these tires, I decided to do my own research. I liked the 30/30 combo so well, I left it there. I'm 69" tall & weighed 155 at the time.

I should think that w/in a pound or two of this, you're good to go.

I ride a multitude of dif places...daily communting, twisties, canyons, etc. I've gotten great wear & mileage from these tires.

The Michelin Track/Race Rep told me for 2CT, use 32-34 psi for both Front and Rear. I use 32 for street also (CBR954).

It seems to me that these tires are pretty forgiving of pressures. I hear that Big Willow is pretty tough on tires. I've ridden The Streets circuit on Qualifiers on a ZX-6r, so I have no comparison.

Thanks for all the replies! Based on what you guys have said I'll try 30-32 on both tires.

Can't wait!

32 should be fine, and then you will be hopelessly addicted.

I ran 2ct's on my f4 last year. Ran 28/30 hot.

You guys need to lower your pressures some...
