Default Yoooo Stoppies

Ok folks. I'm not really a new to riding I've been riding for about 5 years and I ride pretty hard. I'm a big wheelie guy but since i got my 929 I've been experimenting more with stoppies. I have a few questions. when I do a stoppie I roll on the brake to load the suspension and then give it a gentle pop to raise the back end. I have had a consistent problem with locking the front wheel (which is really scetchy). It really turns me off to the whole idea cause I'm not trying to dump my bike. I was wondering if it's a technique problem or if I'm just not paying enough attention to warming my tire up or maybe it's the road surface. It seems like the heat from just regular riding isn't enough. I have to do a couple of really hard stops to be able to trust it. and I still don't. any advice maybe even a how to would be great.

Maybe I just need to grow a sack and practice

I had 208's on my 900 and running street pressure at 36psi, I RARELY had a problem with it locking. Only if it was unusually cold out or dirt on the road.
