(in second gear) go about 45,
(step 1) grab the clutch and let off the throttle
(step 2) slam the throttle and pop the clutch (this should be done very fast and simotaniously)
(step 3) hold your hand on the throttle until u feel your heart drop
(step 4) let off the trottle just a hair and start to drag your foot on the rear brake

im still practicing the stand ups, so iono bout that one (stand ups and sit downs have complete different throttle responses)

if your bike honestly only jerks and doesnt come up in the air more then 12" then u may need a new chain

if it's the clutch your worrying about... just pop it up in 1st if you can then its not ya clutch.

ps: but ya, your chain or your throttle might need to be re-tightened.

Maybe you are just going to fast to be doing wheelies. Slow up a little bit when you are clutching it. That might do the trick because I noticed with my old f4i that I was just going to fast.

dude all you need to do is give it more gas, and shift your weight over that rear wheel. i have the same bike and almost the same gears (-1+5) you'll need a significant amount of throttle to get the front wheel up.

it WILL come up, just keep at it.

I had a 99 900RR with -1 and full exhaust and it would come up in 2nd just off the throttle if you had your timing correct. Clutching was not a problem. Practice

I HAVE A 99, 98 ,97, AND 95 900RR. GO ABOUT 30-35MPH IN SECOND GEAR,
SIT AS FAR BACK AS YOU CAN PULL IN THE CLUTCH HIT THE GAS HARD AND
LET THE CLUTCH GO REMEMBER TO COVER THE REAR BREAK... SEE HOW IT GOES UP..
THEN JUST GET USE TO IT..AND GO FASTER AND FASTER.. AND HIGHER AND HIGHER..
AND MOST OF ALL ENJOY THE RIDE...

don't get the wrong idea but, i'm gonna have to disagree with that; for a beginner you'd want to stay close to the tank and squeeze the tank with your legs. sliding back on the seat makes you less stable and as for the stand-ups... get your sit-downs first.
