Default Shifting gears on a wheelie!

Ok i have a 954 and i dont have a problem clutching the wheelies in 2nd and 3rd ( 3rd sometimes gives me a bit trouble) and i alway wanted to pull it up in 4th but no matter what i do it aint coming up! So i tryed shifting gears in a wheelie but its not happening! So this is what i am doing pick it up in 3rd stand up once i get it where i want it keep the neutral throttle position and i try to kick it in the 4th and no its not going in!!!! So it would be nice to hear it from somebody that knows what he is doing to tell me how to do it. THANK YOU

could reposition your foot/ go to a GP style shifter (ie one up 5 down) or just clutch up in 4th, preload the suspension and let her go.

that bike should clutch up in 4th no problem, make sure your revs are at 5 or 6 maybe 7, then pull clutch throttle up and apply clutch, I have not ridden a liter bike yet that could not clutch up a wheelie in 4th, and I have rode them all.... I think 4th is the best gear to wheelie in!! tons of playtime, just be carefull, you'll be going faster when setting it down, and having the front wheel straight is a big deal, should also get a nice puff of white smoke like a plane landing when you set down a fast one that you have rode for a while giving the front tire time to stop.

happy landings!!!!!

I agree with both of these guys. the key is to shift into 4th when your at about max power in 3rd. for instance max power at 10400rpm in 3rd, shift at that point or there abouts and it should stay up if your at the balance point. i would practice shifting from 1st to 2nd to figure out when your shift point needs to be. remember its easier to shift gears if you dont need to pull in the clutch all the way but im sure you already knew that. hope this helps.
