Default 929 wheelies

Ok........................I have never owned a big bike (900 or 1000) and rode an 01 R6. I was wondering what a good technique is to for wheelies on my new 929. Its -1 in the front, stock in the back so i was wondering if people just bounce them up or clutch them like my 600.........also what kind of rpms are we looking at here, just a ballpark ##, i just dont want to go out and rip on it like my R6 and loop it.

Oh and what are you guys runnin for pressure in the back for everything??

THANKS

stand staggered and use the clutch. get used to using the rear brake, it will prevent you from looping.

as for rpm's, just go find an empty road and just start experimenting. are you trying to do slow stuff or highway ****?

i usually run 20-25psi in the rear.

what up pimp? I ended up putting down a deposit on the f4, I told you about in the stuntlife forum. You can't really say that you need to be at X # of rpms to do a wheelie. There are a lot of other factors that come into play, speed, how fast you let out the clutch, tires. I tried watching rpms too, when I first started clutchin em up. It's really easier to just get a feel for it and to listen to the bike, andnot have to stare at the tach. I should have my other bike by the end of the month. It wont be long before we can get out there. Any ideas where you want to ride yet?

i had a 929 up here in colorado (high altitude) and i went down 1 in the front and it would power wheelie. Now i know at sea level that bike will power wheelie through 3rd gear. I did it in louisiana, couldnt keep my front wheel on the ground.

All I do is power wheelies so it's a totally diff ballgame I suppose.
I've got 3up-2 down on my 929.
I prefer 2nd gear at around 50 mph, drop the throttle, then whack it up.
But if ure not totally secure you'll def loop.
It's all about knowing ure bike 100%.

On my F4i stock gears I could power it up in 1st at about 6000 rpms and then Iwould shift into 2nd still in the wheelie and ride it as long as I could. Its just best to go try stuff and see what works for you

hey all, first off, the 929 loves to dance, so, in my case, the trick is getting it to the balance point at feathering the throttle with the back brake. if u get completely comfortable with the bike, the slow speed stuff gets easier to balance, but like someone mentioned above, watch ur throttle, cause this bike is extremely loopable. on my bike ('00 929) i have stock sprockets, and i bring them up with a mixture of stance (staggered also as mentioned above) with the left foot on the rear peg, and the right foot on the front peg so i have brake control, and give it a bit of throttle to bring the bike up, then feather the throttle and rear brake accordingly. for the higher speed stuff, in second gear, about 35-40, i dont have to clutch it to bring it up, just let off the throttle and roll ( emphasis on the ROLL) the throttle up just a bit faster than normal, that will bring it up pretty quick, at these speeds, using the rear brake to bring it back down can really drop it hard. in third is when u have to use a little clutch. what i do there is when i am doing about 50-55, i grab a handfull of clutch bring the rpms to about 8500 drop the clutch, then as it comes out, use the clutch to relieve power so i dont loop. hope that helps!

like saint said a 929 loves to dance, and how great it is..all i can say is know your bike, and practice, practice.in my opinion every one has their own technique.riders hieght weight all that has to do with how easy and smooth ur gonna get her to dance with you.take it easy and dont forget about your rear brake,it will save u many times...good luck!
