Save the rush hour stuff until later anyway ......cuz for anyone it simply sucks.

I remember when I first started riding, I think i rode around my neighborhood for 2 days, and then i started getting into traffic...within 3 days I was riding to work which was mostly interstate.

If you dont have to be out during Rush hour then dont go, its not any fun. I work from home now so I just ride my bike for fun, and I rarely ride in town now and I never sit in traffic anymore.

 

Ya, stay clear of the morning and evening rush hours for a bit. If your really new, it will stress you out and thats when mistakes are made! That would be like step 3 or 4, as far as leaving the neighborhood. Ride often as you can when traffic is light,ahhh, the open road! Minimal hazards.

 

I I'd also like to say to avoid traffic. I had my bike for two day and rode it to work then home in some bad traffic. I was not ready for it at all, I only used my front brake instead of the rear too, I was sloppy with the clutch and switching gears and quite honestly I'm surprised I made it home.

To build yourself up start small, honestly I think city riding is harder then country rodes. Out in the country you can take it easy on the rodes an slowly increase your speed around corners until your comfortable. You have to worry less about other cars hitting you, using your signals or constantly starting and stopping from lights. just don't over do it around corners if you haven't ridden the rode on a bike before.

As others have said, just don't even think about riding outside of your limits. Don't push yourself or the bike and just take it easy and get more ad more comfortable.
