Braking question! how many fingers?

riding styles vary. i use 4 fingers on the clutch, and 3 on the brake (middle, ring, pinkie). having my index and thumb on the throttle while braking keeps me in better control.

whats important is that you use what is comfortable for you, and allows you to keep the bike rubber side down. take suggestions from others and the msf instructors with a grain of salt.

Interesting that you should use that style for braking because I came across this video where Bradley Smith appears to do the same thing (about 1:30 in the video)...



It seemed unusual, atleast to me. I know he's a racer and this is a street braking thread but I wondered how common this style was among other riders? It looked interesting because I can see the benefit of increased throttle control but I tried it and it didn't feel right on the brake, sadly.

I use all 4 of them on my lever. Always done it that way, always will.

i use two when pulling the levers and i usually ride with a finger or two on both at all times
