F1 Cafe fighter
I've been out of town a lot lately and haven't had as much time to work on it as I'd hoped. I also took a little time out to make a Halloween costume out of fiberglass and bondo which was fun
I do have a number of updates I'll try to get some photos of when I get home today. I wrapped the exhaust pipes, started painting the frame, fiberglassed one of the side covers and repainted the swing arm.
I've been on myself this week to get back into this before it really gets cold out because I know it will be tough to keep working once it does.

I sanded and sprayed them first but they had rusted with the years and there was a lot of pitting. I like the look of wrapped pipes too but I have doubts about how long the wrap is going to look black. From what I have read the titanium color wrap that I used on my Enfield holds up a lot better than this black.
Painting has been fun but I'm not doing as good a job as I should. I rushed it because I want to get everything back together so I can work on the mechanical side of the project. I had the bike idling before I really started dismantling things but there is still a lot to be done mechanically before it is ready to ride.
To do list:
Reattach swingarm, exhaust, and rear sets
Primer/Paint tank, tail, and side covers
Replace brake lines and pads
Change oil and filter
Fabricate a bracket for oil cooler to attach to attach to radiator
Mount carb and ensure the fuel leak has been fixed
Clean/polish engine
Buy/Install turn signals, speedometer, silencer, and mirrors

the tail almost looks to big. mayb its because it doesnt have paint on it. the side covers look sooo much better since you glassed em.. What are you planning on for paint? I think that the tail will need either some decals or mayb a pinstripe to break it up a bit. but so far I really like it. I planning on buying a bike this winter to fighter out.. you guys have gave me some great inspiration.
I have seen the fender in person and agree it is a bit big but I had also seen it off the bike. I agree with the idea of pinstriping to break it up some or decals/art. If you're a bit careless on the frame paint it'll probably still be quite ok. Talk to Doug and Jeremy next time you're in town and use the clear coat they suggest because it is heat and chip resistant and lasts ridiculously long.
Bring some fiberglass next time you come as well and help me get started on my cafe fairing

I had planned on using a satin black with a gloss stripe down the middle. I designed a number decal for the sides of the tail but I'm not sure what color to make it. I'll post a pic of the new decal once I get it cleaned up.
