Conrice's 954 FIGHTER build thread
so, i've got the new tires mounted. they're shinko 010 apex's. front and rear (120/70/17 and 200/50/17). and i'll be honest guys, they're a damn good tire. only have about 50 miles on them so far, no rain yet, but in the dry, they grip and rip.
anyone thinking about getting one or a set should definitely go for it. 130 shipped for the rear, and 75 shipped for the front. i put them on myself. they're suprisingly light as well.
i used to swear by my PP's, but not anymore. i've used the pirelli corsa's, and these shinkos are better so far than both. i'll get pics of them on later.

that 954 looks awesome period!!! iv never seen one like that before . im building a 954 for my brother another project i dont need lol im restoring a 93 kx 500 dirt bike that i used to race and building a 96 gsxr 1117 drag bike too i guess you could call me fred sanford considering all the junk lol
haha that's awesome, i love those kind of projects. the 1100 is such a great base for a drag build, are you going forced induction with it?
i love the 954's, i hope you like workin' on it for your brother

and just for an update....
my repsol.... which was close to being out of spec on the pistons/cyl walls clearance when i replaced the transmission, has developed some very bad piston slap. its to the point to where i don't want to ever run it for fear of it frying the rings.
so i've decided to take the motor out of my fighter and put it in the repsol. i have another motor case, and cylinder head (that's empty - no valves, no springs, no cams, etc.) sitting in the garage.
i'm going to put that bare motor (no crank, no pistons, no tranny, no oil pan even, just the case)into my fighter so that i can keep it in a rolling chassis. i'm then going to be taking the motor that i took out of my repsol and building the hell out of it. i will get it sleeved and stroked. i have pistons (13.5:1 compression i believe) that were an extra set for jake zemke's 954 that i will be putting in my bike paired with a 4mm stroked crank with 2mm shorter rods (probably kniferods from falicon, where i want to get the crank stroked at as well). as well, i'm going to figure out a way to run newer 1krr TB's. and i'll be sending the another head that i have lying around the garage (**** i have too many parts) to get ported, bigger valves, and some custom grind cams to make my fighter motor a monster.
as well, i'll be able to work on further customizing my fighter where i won't have to rush rush to get it back on the road again because the repsol will be in perfect condition. so i'll be able to take my time building a new subframe, getting a new front end that i'm happy with, etc.
progress from here out will be really really really slow. but the bike (which maybe put back together finally by next summer) will a beast when finally finished. so from here on out, this is going to turn into a serious build. i'll keep you guys updated

im runing the FCR39mm carbs with the k&n baskets . you would not bleve how i got the bike lol. i traded a 91 katana 750 i fixed it up to flip . the gsxr came with full yosh system rs3 slincer the FCR carbs . some company called KWS in north carolina built the engine head been ported to flow a wind storm threw it lol .has wiseco pistons carrillo rods custom KWS cams . the guy told me that it had an electrical problem and he had the bike apart i knew he was lieing because i saw a valve head sitting in the exhaust port because the header was off lol ect.. lol well i knew the FCR carbs were 1150 bucks soo i just said the tunna is yours lol . the dude did not know anything about what he had. when i got the bike home i took the whole bike apart bike came airshifter set up dyna 2000 ingnition set up . what was really scary it had quater throttle set up he was riding it on the street like that now i know why he over reved it lol . i took engine apart saw all kws stampings on parts as well as the machine work put into the head. i called kws they used to build gsxr 1100 engines 10 years ago they dont now thoe . the engine needs one rod 4 vavles and one piston soo im working in it . my bro at the machine shop saw the head and the rest of the engine and said im looking at 185 to 190 horses out of it lol . the bike it self it all polished out the farings custom paint . my fav bike of all time is 86 gsxr slab side black and red i had one and sold it biggest mistake i ever made period lol . i must say the cbr 929 is one hell of a canyon bike thoe and its my first fuel injected bike lol im loving it ! my bros 954 im working is almost like my 929 he has this exhaust called devil too carbon fiber pipes it looks too busey for my taste but he likes it. he saw my pipe now he wants one single shorty . lol he has an electrical problem with his fan i told him to get me the work shop manual for the wiring diagram . i do electrical and ac work at a ford dealer soo bike is like childs play .
ya, it does make a HUGE difference in handling. whenever i get back on my other 954 (clip-ons) it takes a few miles to get used to it. with dirty bars, its effortless, and the front end is really really light, i need a damper for it to be honest. the actual bar is just a 7/8in. low rise bar. its a cheapie. i forget the brand
