yeah - seen that one around a few times. Scuff them tires in, yo!

Even at that - modern tires really shouldn't be that slick even brand new, I wonder if the bike had been detailed or something with some kind of tire shine applied to make it look good on the showroom.

ive had this happen to me once (without falling ) but is was cold outside ( around 35F* )
instantly i have twisted back on the throttle, and the bike corrected it self.

ya that is an old one... i dont know if its cold tires, but he is coming out of a bike shop, he could have run through something spilled on the floor inside (like oil) or something.
