If anything, he shouldn't have drifted that close to the shoulder... turns out thats where sand, gravel and the rest of the Gremlins sleep.

Exactly. His posture had nothing to do with it. His lane position caused him to loose his contact patch. Even if he'd had a knee down, he would have still lost his contact patch on the debris.

little bit of "marlbles" on the side of the road. looks like the only this guy is guilty of is not scanning the road well enough. Yeah, he got over a little too far, but not that far. I couldnt see anything on the video, but I garauntee you could see it in real life
