Default Planning at trip - Where to go?

I have a vacation of about 8-9 days coming up march 3rd. I wanted to ride outside of Michigan and see some of the U.S. See some scenery and other cool sites along the way. Not sure where Id like to head. West, south, or east coast.

I guess im wondering what routes have you taken? What cool sites are there to see?

It depends on what you are looking for. The western NC, eastern TN and northern GA has some of the best roads. I am planning 3 separate trips this season. You might want to look up Blood Mountain Hwy 180 GA; Helen, GA; Tail of the Dragon, TN; Diamondback, NC; Blueridge Parkway, NC VA; Hwy 441 near Gatlinburg, TN; Chimney Rock, NC; etc

A lot of those roads are twisty and have nice views, also there are many waterfalls nearby that you can look at.

Well ive decided to go east. going to visit a friend in South Carolina. So far i will be headed to Maryland to Washington, smithsonian as well as monuments and such, ill go through most of the blue ridge parkway stopping here and there for different sites.

Any cool sites, museums, etc to see through WV, VA, MD, NC and SC?

Also anything I will need for the trip?

I am getting the following:
tank bag/saddle bags
co2 and tyre goo or other plug kit
small tool kit
extra fuses
food/water
looking at new grips- heard good things on D3's and grip puppies any others?

And of course ill change fluids, tires are newer maybe couple hundred miles on them, brakes are good. Lube chain and check it over as well as bring extra lube. Will probably set valves before I go as well. Anything else to check?
