Bucket List - Key West Ride.
#13
From Key Largo to Key West is about 110 miles of 40 MPH driving or slower in the residential areas of the Keys. I have driven it a few times by car. A coworker and I had thought about renting bikes but then I got thinking about being out in the sun all day (down and back, we were staying in Key Largo). That is the type of trip that you need to think about what time of year to make it. There is a nice breeze of the water but the sun will bake you.
I don't know if camping is available in the keys but I do know that hotel rates are high.

I remember the campground manager was a real stickler about loud vehicles driving through the property. Although my little 1-cyl, 500cc enduro wasn't all that loud I had to park it at the manager's office and walk about 1/4 mile to the campsite. I'd offered to just leave the key at the office and I told him that it didn't make any noise when the engine was off but he wouldn't let me bring it past the front office, engine on or off.
Fortunately, it was still there the next morning.
