*mutter* I vaguely remember the previous owner telling me he had stiffened the suspension. I vaguely remembered because of this thread and because I was out riding earlier and felt the front / rear bouncing in a turn.

Gonna reset the bike suspension to stock. If I don't like the feel, I'm gonna *shudder* take her to the shop

stiffen up a fair bit and after that it's all about moving your weight around on the bike getting the track "down" as in knowing your brake points and lines
through the corners.......... s'what warm up laps are for

This is a great post and a totally different perspective for me. The feeling of the bike 'sinking' into the corner has been a little odd for me and have been tempted to try to stiffen the suspension. After reading this post, I will give that some reconsideration and experiment some with cornering the way the suspension currently is set up. I was thinking along the lines of a sports car set up, where the 'sport' setup is stiffer. The idea of hitting a pot hole and having some give in the suspension does make sense. I am only a week into riding my CBR, my road experience to date has been on a cruiser and the two can not be compared! I really like the way my CBR goes over some bumps across the highway as you don't even know they are there, on the the cruiser they were bone crushing.

Ends up my suspension is damn near shot. Ironically, my bike's feel really has all been in my head. What actually ended up happening is that I got more and more used to my bike, which is why going into corners has felt more comfy and my bike's powerband has been feeling sluggish lately, even though what little adjustments I made had very little effect (besides maybe the preload).

Basing this on what I've read and heard from several trackwhore suspension gurus, "stock" suspension settings are more than enough for most people on modernish japanese sport bikes.
