Default Protecting your junk

Not sure if this has been brought up before but I had a random thought occur to me: we spend good money on riding gear (and rightly so) to protect our head, hands, feet, back, shoulders... But what about our "nether regions"?! I wince just thinking about what could happen to my fun bits in a crash if they hit into something at high speed.. even the tank! I think I will start wearing a cup because even riding pants make me feel vulnerable. Am I alone in having these painful thoughts. Are there any pants which offer protection to these precius areas?

I dunno... most riding gear is designed to keep your skin on and the main parts of your body semi-protected that will typically hit pavement of obstructions. Yo' nutzez aren't gonna take that much of a beating on the bike... (lol... *chirp chirp* What?) and they're not something you would typically land on during a crash/fall. That's why hands, elbows, back, shoulders and knees have armor. I think it'd be too uncomfortable to wear one all the time, but who knows. If I get into an accident that has me singing saprano then I'll be eating my words.

I think it's very hard to predict what WOULD happen, but let's look at what COULD happen. To begin with, when you're riding a motorcycle, your legs are separated or "spread apart". Chances are, if you go crash or go flying off, they're still going to be separated, leaving you vulnerable.

Let's look at a typical scenario -- you're going straight and someone pulls out ahead of you, there's no time to stop, and you t-bone them right at their front wheel, and get shot off the bike over their hood and onto the pavement down the road. When your bike hits their car, it will stop while your body is still going however many miles per hour. Your privates are likely to impact the tank and/or front fairing and/or windscreen at that many miles per hour. That is NOT going to feel good, you could rupture your testes or be rendered impotent.[:@]

What about if you go scraping down the road and the friction either wears through your pants or causes them to get pulled down? I'm not sure I'm 100% confident if I was sliding down the pavement at 50mph that my pants wouldn't get pulled down. The thought of my privates getting rubbed against asphalt at those speeds is not a comforting one.

Uncomfortable though it may be, I feel better wearing a sport cup when I'm riding.

I just about hurt myself on my tank while doing about 5 MPH... (from stopping too fast and getting to close to the tank)

I don't want to imagine what happens when you hit something head on that ramps you and your junk over the tank (that doesn't otherwise kill you).

I seem to bust my nuts on the tank just about every time I ride. I'm still going to leave the cup out of my rideing gear collection.
