buy the lightest, most comfortable helmet you can find and afford. Do not buy a helmet on line unless you have already worn it around a store for 20-30 minutes. You need to go try helmets on, it needs to be snug around your forehead and cheeks. you should not be able to move it up down or twist it on your head. After you find a helmet that seems to fit snug in all areas, wear it for atleast 15-20 or longer around the store. If a helmet does not fit correctly, you will develop pressure points where it doesnt fit just right pretty quickly that will make it very uncomforable to wear for riding, and it will distract your attention from riding, and it will give you headaches. You need to find a helmet that you dont even notice your wearing on long rides.
Best reply, and to add, till now I only wore AGV helmets because for the same size of the other brands, AGV provides the best fit / comfort for me. Also, I wouldn't consider anything over 1.2 kgs as my neck doesn't like it. Would love to try on an Arai but we don't get them here and unless I try it, I won't buy it.

Hi,

I've worn down a Nolan (european brand probably), X-lie, Shark , HJC......... Since i've bought my Arai, It's obvious to me.... Why didn't I buy this one before.
As far as silence goes.. the guy from the bike store said Schubert is the way to go.

The above is only my opinion, best way to go is: GO to a bike store and try on a few. With the best two (which fit the best), have a drive on your bike.

Grtz, Dennis from Holland

well, I had a nice long post typed out about earplugs, but my connection timed out and I lost it.

so, I will give you the cliff notes you really should consider earplugs just as much part of your gear as a helmet, jacket, gloves, and boots. windnoise does cause hearing damage, no matter how good the helmet.

wear ear plugs now when your ride, or when hearing aids all the time when your not even old

lots of people ride with headphones.

I do not, for one becuase then I truly cannot hear what is going on, and if I cant hear the bike, then I dont feel completely conncected to it.
another reason I dont listen while I ride is that I would be listening to music that would get my adreneline pumping, and that would be bad for me on a bike.

I want the Shoei TZR Dfour!! But no one has one around here to try on. Do you know a comparable helmet that fits almost the same? (I know like impossible question to answer). I found one online on closeout for $200 plus free shipping

As for the ear plugs you may have talked me into a set to try out. What do you guys wear and are they comfortable? How much and where to get them? Also are ear buds enough?

I dont have any info on the Shoei, but any earplug works,I try to stick with stuff that has atleast a 30db rating, find some that are comfortable for you.

my buddy ordered a sample pack from somewhere, and it came with like 20 different pairs of earplugs. he found some he liked, then just ordered a whole box of like 200. total of less than $20 and we always have fresh earplugs

Scorpion EXO-7000. I also have a KBC VR-2 and i hated that things. It's heavy, noisy and easily fog up when it's cold. The Scorpion is about the same price and much better.
