Default New Helmet

I am looking at upgrading my helmet. I started to do some research on them. Was just wondering what your guys thoughts were on some of the best. I am looking to spend about $200 or under on one. Looking for a full face with comfortability and low wind noise. Thanks!

Well I am looking for a helmet that is comfortable with minimal wind noise for road trips. It is cold here and I do not want to go around and try some on (and obviously can not ride to check the wind noise). Just looking online for a good deal so I am trying to get some opinions on what has worked well for others.

I agree, HJC is the way to go. I wouldnt mess around with some off brand junk. If only have one head its worth the investment

I bought an HJC AC-12 and a Scorpion ex700. The scorpion was cheaper, but it felt so much better than my HJC. In fact, I have bought a second scorpion helmet and my HJC just collects dust.

Every head is different. You really need to go with a helmet that fits YOUR head the best. But my money will be spent on the Scorpion helmets.

I'd just recommend getting something DOT and if possible, SNELL approved. And as others have said, make sure it's comfortable.

Wear a cheap helmet then wear a good one, and you will never wear the cheap one again. A helmet is not a helmet. I have 5 helmets and 2 are Scorpion and the othersaren't worn. They collect dust or I let someone elsewear them.

The helmets I've worn, and my opinions of them:

Icon Mainframe - Comfortable, good ventilation, easy to fit my glasses in without moving around a lot. Wind noise on a scale of 1 to 10 was probably around 5. One of my favorite features was I could open the visor just a crack, to allow for some air on hotter days without compromising vision.

Shoei RF-1000 - Not as comfortable as the Icon to me. Ventilation was mediocre. Wind noise around 8.

Suomy Vandal - Tight at first, most comfortable of all after break in. Ventilation is decent. Wind noise again around 5.

Another thing you should keep in mind when searching for a helmet is weight. Your neck will feel it wearing a helmet all day, so if you're older or sensitive in the neck, keep it light.
