Default Helmet Question

So I just picked up my new Shoei X-11 from the dealership today which they had to do a special order because they didn't have one in. But when i looked at the date inside the helmet it said 07/06. This helmet was made in 06... Is that ok? The helmet looked brand new.

It definitely should be. There is a Warranty. Go to Shoei website and find the design helmet you have. Then shoot them an E-Mail and pose your question. That way you can be sure. That is one nice helmet. I have the RF1000 and love it.

yea, i think as long as it hasn't been worn by anyone else and it's with in the last couple years it should be good, especially if its a shoei!

Your helmet is fine. Helmets at minimum have a 5 year shelf life.

I think Shoei helmets have a 5 year warranty once they are bought but like a 7 year warranty from the build date. Once you buy it the warranty is 5 years.

My new x-11 was a bostrum with an 05 build date. I had no idea it was built in 05 but it is covered. Just read your warranty card or go the the Shoei web site and they tell you.

I like the looks of the Arai. But, they don't fit me as well as a Shoei. In the end, that's what matters.

[align=left]I tried a couple of helmets today and couldn't tell whether to get a L or XL for the Shoei RF1K. The L fit really snugged and I wasn't sure if it'll break in enough to feel comfortable. The XL is loose and has some wiggle room and I'm scared it'll be too loose after a break in period.

I guess my question is, will the L break in and feel better after a week of wearing it?

I was so unsure of the fitment that I missed a great deal (25% off all Shoei and Arai helmets). I know I'll kick myself in the rear for letting such a great deal pass because of uncertainty.

get the large it'll break in but even if it doesnt break in enough for comfort you can get different size cheek pads so that it'll fit perfectly.

Ive seen several people get a broken nose in a crash from a loose helmet and those are the lucky ones...
