Did I ruin my Helmet?
I have a new Icon Mainframe helmet. I removed the cheek pads so my glasses fit better. After I had them removed, I noticed that one of the styrofoam pieces that they were attached to had broken in half. Does this mean my three week old helmet is trash???
Thanks,
Joe

i dont like to change the subject of a thread but no im not in air combat comand. Fortuna Favet Fortabus (fortune favors the bold) is the moto of the original 101st LRRP teams in vietnam. i have a simaler job in the military and have always used it as a guide and moto for myself.
DO NOT GLUE THE EPS LINER BACK TOGETHER!!!! IMHO the helmet should be replaced. Forgive my bluntness, but I empathize. I went down w/ a 2 day old Scorpion EXO-700, so I understand how you feel.
This is a late post, but...
From my understanding, a helmet works to reduce the energy of an impact by creating micro fractures in the "styrofoam" headliner. Having a crack in the styrofoam would reduce the amount of area to spread the energy of the impact, as the developing fractures would probably stop at the cracked stryofoam.
I wouldn't go so far as to say your helmet is trashed, but it probably won't perform at its best.
My suggestion: After you replace this one, you will have a spare helmet.
