i just wear a mesh jacket. it looks like you have full coverage. the only thing i can argue with is the thumb loop, it might be a little tight with the glove.

IMO, I think the arm armor and shoulder is not necessary, your icon jacket allready has arm and shoulder armor (or it should). But I think an extra back protector is a good idea. A* makes a armored shirt like that. its alot more expensive but its CE approved. But I think just a back protection vest is better, like icon or A*, they both have CE approved vests

I cant view the link right now cause im at work but i agree that your jacket should have plenty of protection for your shoulders, and elbows/forearms. As far as chest and back protection i went with A*'s Bionic race shield and couldnt be happier.

The Top review on it is my review.

My opinion: I wouldn't waste $40. That thing is pure glam and all sham. Zero mention of impact rating. And from the looks of it, those straps wouldn't survive the shear forces of a slide, likely ripping the "armor" off of you

I see a lot of the Icon Field Armor Vests being worn for protection... http://www.amazon.com/Icon-Field-Arm.../dp/B0037GCI5E .
Here's the new version... http://www.rideicon.com/product_deta...=3434&id=12518 .
The Icon vest is CE approved. From what I've seen w/ riders that use it, its easy to put on & take off.

i clearly respect all of your opinion and after posting and seeing all of your responses it actually hit me.. that the quality on that thing is; for lack of a better word, worthless..

and i absolutely love the icon vest! the alpinestars looks ok too..

I tried the icon vest on at cycle gear and thought that the chest protection was to weak IMHO. Both vests are CE level 2 rated and the same in alot of ways.

Some things that turned me to the A* one were:
The Comfort and size of the back piece.
Kidney belts fell good with 2 straps to adjust with
Able to wear under jacket without noticing
Chest piece felt like it could take more of an impact and made me feel safer.

The bad:
No shoulder strap but still takes less than 20seconds to put on.

Things i like about the icon vests:
Shoulder straps
Airflow vents(although im not sure if they would work under a mesh jacket)
Back piece felt okay but not as good as A*

Things that turned me off from the icon vests:
Sholder straps offer no protection and would interfer with my jacket shoulder armor placement.
Kidney belt didnt feel as sturdy.
To soft of chest protection.

If I were going to get full armor, I'd prolly opt for something like this

But it's pricey and body armors like that don't offer any significant abrasion protection. It's purely for impacts.

I've seen them worn on the outside of jackets & leathers.
