A* back protectors
so im looking at doing track days w/ the F4i this spring. all i need is a back protector and i have full A* gear so i was looking at getting one of theirs.
the ones i've seen seem to have a waist belt or something that seems like it may velcro around your waist.....but what is keeping the top of the back protector against your back? anyone w/ any recommendations, im all ears (or.......er.......uh, i guess all 'eyes').

For track youll be better off with the bling type with full protection all around (adds protection in many places most jackets lack, like upper chest, etc..) and straps. Since I dont do track I bought the A* back protector insert and returned it because I thought the quality felt pretty flimsy and got the Dainese G2 instead since it fit in my A* jacket and got much better reviews.
hey dont get touchy j,

The A* protector, like many, is simply held in place at the top by your jacket or suit. They make a fancier version that has a chest strap also.
Dainese makes some great ones also, the Backshield 8 is real comfortable and has good real world reviews, it's what I wear. For the best, the Gilet Wave 2, if you want to spend $350.
T Pro has some that are pretty nice, cheaper than Dainese but still very good.

Randyjoy, how exactly is the A* protector held in place by the top of the jacket? i know they make one thats a bit more expensive w/ shoulder straps but im not looking at that one, its more expensive and i dont think i need all that!
thanks again for the replies, guys.

They hold in place at the top by the simple pressure of the jacket on the protector when you are all zipped up; the waist strap is supposed to keep the protector immobile. Works OK with jackets, but obviously, not standalone. The A* 1 piece suit has a fitting for it and it holds quite nicely, but not the jackets I have seen.
Edited to get rid of all the apostrophes...

I have the icon body armor. It fits under my leathers and is constructed like a vest. Velcro straps on the sides. My leathers had a back insert but did not extend as far down the back asI wanted. Now I have a level of spinal protection the leathers alone did not provide.
