Armor or A Jacket for the spring/summer?
Hey yall,
I have been looking at gear for the upcoming spring and summer. I know i am buyingsome knee guards. I already havesome icon boots.I am leaning towards trying the icon field armor vest and some elbow guards. My thinking is, i can whatever t-shirts, longsleeve shirts, or whatever i want. As compared to wearing a jacket. Does anyone run this setup? Am i losing protection in ur opinion? Am I gaining protection? I am also thinking that i will feel more flexible with this gear, tell me what ya think.

take my word for it, get a FULL jacket! i've 'wooden guardrail tested' my A* jacket and im sure i'd be in a wheelchair if i didnt have it on in my 2nd accident! if you really want the vest, its a great addition to wear under your jacket. although A* carries their own line of back protectors. but i strongly disagree w/ wearing a tshirt and the back protector. roadrash is a bitch, go w/ a jacket.
as for the leg/shin protectors.....i assume you're refering to the icon ones. i'll give you my opinion on them. unless you have some intense calve muscles, they just tend to slide right down your leg. i ended up selling mine after a few days of having them. ever time i'd shift or brake they'd slide more and more down my leg and werent offering protection to my knee's like they are intended to. not trying to completely steer you away from them, just giving you some opinion on my experience w/ them.
hopefully that was helpful, but again........FULL jacket, lol. sweating beats bleeding!

Just think of all the exposed skin, all that potential roadrash. Get a jacket, even a mesh or textile one that will save your hide for one fall and keep you reasonable cool. I do leather year round.
