Default Zox helmets

hey guys spilled my bike doing a rolling burnout so i thought i needed a new helmet anyway, used to ridea icon mainframe fairly nice but neededa helmet really quick after the dump. went to my local bike shop and found a cheap Zox helmet for 80 bucks just to get me through then next month or so HOLY CRAP this helmet is nice! i purchased a Travani R helmet has a nice air flow, better than the icon and really soft on the inside, also has the breath deflector and quick visor change. it's really light too. i know you get what you pay for but i don't think i'll be crashing at 180 any time soon. wind noise is comparable to the icon with considarible noise around 95 or so, but i don't reguarly travel that fast so it dosen't count. couldn't beat the price either. check out www.zoxhelmets.com to find one you like. all and all really suprized by the quality of these helmets. when i save some more money i'll buy a more expensive but for now very happy.

Yeah I had a Zox and liked it, but the visor clip on one side quit working right. After I put the visor back on after cleaning it, the clips wouldn't close back up so I had to drill 2 holes in the visor and stick a knife in there to close the clips.

Can't get to their website right now, so I can't answer my own question:
Is the helmet DOT approved? If so, why worry about it....yes I know it's not a $600 helmet, but ....anyone remember the article that MCN did on the Z1R helmet? Cheapest in the test and best performing. Which proves that price doesn't always equate to value.

The site says it meets and exceeds DOT so it has to be safe. I just do not like the paint on them. for me I do not care what the price is but the helmet has to look bad *** too.

I wouldn't trust a company to make safety gear who can't make their website work. I was looking for information... all I got was dead links.
