Default CB900F Crankcase cover sealant

Hi guys, I'm working on a Hornet and could you explain me this?

Picture is from Honda Workshop Manual, does it mean that I should apply sealant only to colored areas of the sealing surface? And what type of sealant do you use with Hondas?

Most dealerships use ThreeBond, which is same as Yamabond or Hondabond.

Liquid Gaskets | ThreeBond

Apply sealer only to those areas. Those are the areas that the case halves and cover meet.
