move from 98 cbr 600 to 06 r6 worth it?
Have a 98 cbr600 with 18k as a first bike and its treated me great. My buddy has an 06 r6 with 8k for 4 grand that I'm looking at getting.
I still am such a nOOb - so be gentle if its a really stupid question - but is it worth it to try to sell the cbr (I think local market may support around 3grand) and move into the r6 -- or is it really not worth it. Obviously the bike is newer with less miles - but I'm not a stunter or racer...will the difference be that noticeable? Is the r6 to good to pass up? **shrugs**

the fact that you'll have fuel injection and no longer have to deal with cleaning carbs is a big plus. The power difference will be there, i cant say whether it'll be night and day or not but i dont see any cons to getting a newer bike with better features with less miles. Especially if you can get 3k for the f3.
I'll check it out this week and see if its a clean bike - I just didn't know if the r6 is a decent bike or not - I know nothing about them. I got a cbr because everyone I talked to gave it the thumbs up. Luckily I haven't had to do anything to my carbs yet - but yeah fuel injection will be a good thing to have.
The jump is huge. For me I'd say hell yes. The fact you're saying you're still a noob makes me lean toward a no. For one thing, the R6 is going to be considerably more powerful. Also, it's a more agressive stance. (read:less comfortable)
For me... it's exactly the kind of move I'm looking to make. hehe

Good to know the jump is huge.... maybe I'll buy it and flip it if I don't like it.
I've heard really good things about the R6, things I've noticed with the small amount of sportbikes I've ridden is that you should use your back muscles, to pull your upper body up a bit so you're not hunched, not as much weight on your wrists see. But yeah, the jump might be a little big, the F3's and F2's are almost timeless bikes in today's society, they're ridiculous for their time, great fun, fast bikes, not enough mid-range in the F2's if you ask me, but they're all good, the R6 is definitely a very quick bike, I'd say have your buddy let you test ride it around for a bit, that's definitely your best bet man.
