Thumbs up Official CBR Forum Coast to Coast Challenge

Alright kids, i am home from the first leg of the Coast to Coast challenge!

the Sprocket currently lies in Harriman State Park in Highland Falls NY.

I left this morning at 10 AM sharp to a horrendously foggy morning and stopped at Golf beach for the Baptism.

preparing for the dip:

Hits the Atlantic (well sorta)

unfortunately i kind of broke one of my own rules and spent most of my day on the Super slabs, but i had to get it somewhere near interested members.

took Merit Pkwy S to the Hutch, over the Tapanzee, to 287/ 87, to the Palisades pkwy exit 15.

to get to the sprocket, you have to go to Harriman State park. enter on Route 106 you will see this little sign:

106 has some pretty nice tight little curves, watch out for patchwork in the road.

when you hit your first round about, go 1/4 of the way through (essentially its a right turn) onto "SEVEN LAKES DRIVE"

its a nice little sweeper road. you will come into a little beach area with another round about. same drill as last time, RIGHT turn:

this road gets pretty curvy, PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR CYCLISTS, they ride 3 wide sometimes.

you'll go over a little bridge/ dam, your getting real close.

keep your eyes open for a baseball field on the LEFT, its the first pull off on the RIGHT after the field:

after you park, look straight across the road and find the BIG tree, the sprocket is locked to the next tree to the left:

Size: 79.8 KB

i hid it under the leaves but its there i promise:

Size: 80.1 KB

take the sea shell to!!:

remember the combination is 11-1-11, kinda hard to forget.

now keep it going guys! (and ladies!)

i have found a site that we can use to map out the route of the sprocket, the idea is that itgbudeev maps out the route he took it and save it to the profile, we can all log into the site and see the route and where its at then the next person to take it can add their leg to the map

the site is:
www.mapmyrun.com

log in with the name: cbrforum
password: sprocket

once you log in at the very top of the page there is a link that says "my runs" click on that and that will bring you to a link for the last saved "Sprocket Route" (which itgbudeev will have to make)

Do not be offended to find your posts gone ... they aren't deleted but rather moved to the other thread. Only posts relavant to the moving of the sprocket will remain in this thread to avoid confusion and clutter. Hope the sprocket moves soon

If any one has any other sugestions on my way of travel or were I should leave it let me know privit message me before the morning or ill check back here before I go to bed tonight. It was a great trip we TORE threw the park, the roads are kinda bad in spots but plenty of twisties and that sort. Almost ran over some wild life... hehe but we were quicker than them. No run in's with the park pd. Worked last night didnt have the energy to ride to pa today will do in the morning. I signed the sprocket and will add something else along with it as well. I will update the web thing too.

To find the sprocket Face west, toward the view of the Delaware water gap and look for the red rock.... You cant miss it, Its got Signatures all over it and its pretty big. looking past the rock you will see a tree thats about 3-4 feet wide, look just to the right of that and the smaller tree next to it is were the sprocket is chained up on the ground covered in some brush.

My Nephew and I picked up the sprocket last night after work. What a Great ride, we took the Scenic Route home along the Delaware on Rt 611, it follows right along side the river. We did not get back untill after 9 so I moved it to it's new location today!
It is near the "Washington Memorial Chapel" in Valley forge, Pa. right on Rt 23. The location is easily accessable from Pa turnpike, Pa expressway, Rt 202 & Rt 422.

My Nephew the " Derf " unlocking at the Water Gap sight.

Me at the Water Gap

Derf

Stamped Sprocket with names, Marker was wearing off when we got it so I stamped in the "CBR forum Coast 2 Coast" and also the Names, Dates, and locations of the Riders so far.

New Location, No, not in the Chapel,(I don't know where that sprocket has been!!), near the Chapel.

If you are looking at the Chapel, this cabin is to the left of the Chapel. I pulled off to the side of the road (RT 23) almost in front of this cabin. On the left side of the cabin there is a small window, if you stand with your back to the window the sprocket is almost straight ahead locked to a tree. I covered the sprocket with leaves but you can see the cable.

This is the view from the sprocket location. Chapel is in the left rear. The small cabin is straight and to the right a little.

Another shot from sprocket, closer view of cabin and bike on shoulder.

Try this link http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...,0.222473&z=13

Ok your turn, Have fun!

Default Sprocket is in Akron, PA

So Saturday 6/6, I decide to go for a ride to Valley Forge the long way (I live 20 min from there). So on my way home I stop and check and there it is just where Mako left it.

So I get it unlocked and Dried off. Posing with my bike.

Poor Sprocket has been out in the weather a while. So I figured I would treat it to lunch.
No better place than...

So after that I took it home for the evening. Gave it a warm dry bench to lay on. Now the wife, even after not being to happy about the Hooter's Picture. Said I had till about noon on Sunday 6/7 to get it as far as I could. So I headed West into Amish Country. Nothing but a straight shot out to Lancaster County. I wish I would of took more pictures of the Farm Land. But I was on a mission to get Sprocket to its next destination. Which after asking around when I got out there. Someone pointed me to Loyd Roland Memorial Park in Akron, PA.

The park is easy to find once you turn off of 272 onto Main St in Akron. It takes you towards the Park. You will pass the Akron Volunteer Fire House on Left. Keep going till there is a Y in the road. Stay left. You will see the park on your left. I entered in the back of the Park on an unmarked gravel road. There are two small storage buildings there and walking path that I parked on. Sprocket is behind the white one on the left side.

It is directly behind my bike attached to a double tree.

This is the tree.

There is a 2 ft wide creek to jump across. Sprocket is behind the on the little Hill.

Good luck. On to the next person. Go and get it. This little mission was a lot of fun.
The weather could have not been better and gave me good reason to head West for a little.
