you're absolutely right scott... I try my best to be as generic as possible when I post up and not to give any info out... whenever I go riding with people we never meet up at my house... most of them don't even know where I live... but I guess all it takes is one ******* in my apartment complex who saw me ride in more than once to say they know where an easy steal is....

Sorry to hear about your loss VP. I know you have insurance, but as youve already stated. It is going to be difficult replacing such a rare bike if it is not found. Good luck.

There is nothing worse than a theif!!!

well some good news ... I was looking at my policy online and it looks like they cover up to $3000 worth of extra parts at no extra charge to me so at least I'll get alot of my money back for all the extra work I did if I can prove it... luckily I took hundreds of pics and I have receipts or at least transactions from paypal and ebay so that should be pretty easy to prove.

One interesting thing: while I was out having a graveside funeral for my bike (lol jk) i noticed this part laying on the ground... anybody know what it is?

Hmmm.... it appears that may be a part of the steering lock mechanism (???)

Really sorry to hear about the loss. I'll keep an out on eBay and craigslist for listings that might be of interest. Were there any extremely unique identifiers (besides VIN and engine #'s) on the bike?
That piece you were holding up in the picture looked to be cast aluminum from the frame. My guess is that they busted up the ignition lock down to free up the bars. My F3 has a small peice of steel that comes out of the lock cylinder which hits a small steel extension of the frame. In regards to the disc lock... I don't know how they would get around that. I use a thirdlock on my bike just in case someone tries to carry the bike away (bar, disc lock, and heavy duty chain w/ lock).

If the disc lock was on the front wheel, they just had to put the bike in neutral and lift the front for it to move.

Either put disc locks on both wheels or on the back. If its on the back they'd have to drag rubber against asphalt or bike the whole bike up.

Windscreen would be your best identifier.

Disc locks and the like are only deterrents. We've all seen the video where some guys take approx 15 seconds to just pick up a bike and stuff it in a van. Chains and locks are easily defeated. If they want it, they'll get it. Your only assurance is insurance.

At the moment, full coverage is out of my price range. Even though I just finished school, I'm still looking for a job so that I can pay for those extra expenditures. Like you said sixhundredrr, ifthey want it... they'll get it. I'm just hoping nobody but me wants mine and to help with that, I put a few locks on it.

Fortunately I did have full coverage even though it was a pain in the *** to pay every month... if progressive comes through for me I'm definitely gonna get full coverage on everything I own.

I just feel so violated... someone that dark and pathetic was within 100 ft of me and I didn't even know it. How could someone like that live among us?

Also I'm gonna take that broken piece up to the Honda dealership this week and give them and other motorcycle shops a heads up so if anybody comes through to order a ignition lock in the next few days for a 954 maybe it'll be a tip for the popo

Also if you guys know of any bike nights anywhere in middle georgia or atlanta please keep an eye out for it for the next few weeks...I have posted up pics and info on every motorcycle forum I could think of (big thanks to Mike for your help on that)
