id say it depends solely on 2 things

1. is he cool, and fun to be around?

2. can his scooter keep up when your riding normally, so teh group doesnt have to wait.

I was just reading this months motorcyclist, the editor was talking about the 600+ cc moped they have there to use. Granted he blacked out his face for the picture (fat chicks and mopeds remember) but all in all he said the scooter was a blast to ride and would hit 90mph without issue. It wasnt as fun as his 600RR but all in all he said it was enjoyable but not to get to a light the same time as a 1098.

It could be that the guy has bad knees or something, so he needs a step-through bike. And there are definitely times when having that huge storage area under the seat would come in handy. And you might be surprised what those things can do in the hands of a good rider.

Invite him for a ride, and if he really can't keep up, suggest he look into getting something a little sportier for weekends, and keep the scooter for commuting and errands.

I would love to say it doesn't matter what people think and to take the high road but that isn't life. He is going to represent you and the other riders and I don't know if you want a guy riding a scooter wearing your colors/vest/plaque etc. on him around town putting on a scooter whether $200 or $10,000. Hint to the guy about a cheap bike you know for sale that is less than his scooter is worth and mention trading up. I don't personally care of what others think of me but I don't expect a group to accept me if I am different than them either.

Okay, I am going to vote No on this guy. I would be embarrassed to have a guy on a scooter sporting the logo and riding in a parade with us. I think little kids would beat us up and little old ladies would point and laugh. It may seem kind of ****ty, but I can't help feeling like that. Majority rules, andI think he won't make it...

+1 on Let him RIDE

This reminds me of an old song...

"Let the little girl dance"

little kids would beat us up and little old ladies would point and laugh
If you haven't noticed, they're probably doing that already...
