Road america, elkhart lake WI:

Suzuki's Mladin earned the pole with a time of 2:11.541 on Friday, quicker than his pole time from last year but still a few tenths off his fastest time of 2:11.208 set during race two in 2006

It is the first overall pole position for the German in the US-based sports car series and the first for him at the wheel of the over 650-hp strong Audi R10 TDI which also started from pole at Road America in 2006 and 2007. Luhr was fastest in Friday afternoon’s qualifying session right from the start improving his time with each of his following three laps. The 29-year-old was the only driver to dip under 1m 47s.

Pretty big difference.

A motorcycle can not take a corner as fast as race car. Even a moderate sports car will be able to corner faster than most bikes. Its very deceiving that you feel you can take corners faster on a bike, but you can't.

Motorcycles will most of the time out accelerate a car, but never be able to carry more corner speed.

Cool link bro , i would have thought the opposite, but wow , the porche ate the corners up. i do think the 600 would have been more nimble but would not have had the exit speed that the 1000 has. good debate roj , i would have been wrong in my guess.

Never try and get away from a well driven "proper" sports car in the twisties
... you will die!! ... probably in the real world on real roads like I have in the
UK it will come down to rider or driver skill, but all things being equal bet on
the car!!

Bikes are great fun in the twisties and of course we have the wonderful
acceleration out of the bends that few cars can hope to match ... I have
been able to keep up with many fast cars through the twisties with ease but
when it comes down to it they probably weren't being driven that well or the
driver was not prepared to push any harder.

One time I was going for it through my favourite twisties and had a Lotus
Elise hard on my tail ... on the next straight I opened the taps and watch
him go into reverse, then I pulled into a layby so I didn't feel under pressure
at the next set of twisties.

If you are talking a normal family 4 door saloon car driven by the average family man
bet on me and the RR ..lol

The whole cars are faster then bike thing is bunk imo. They allways have full blown race cars against stock bikes. If you look at the Horspower to weight ratio's to be fair you would need a 250 hp bike at least.

And unlike cars, motorcycles will show the differnce in skill between riders right away. Any tard can hop in and make a porsche go fast. Especailly with the modern computers in the car taking care of everything.
Some english TV show had a Ducati VS the new Lambo. The first time it was pretty much equal. The second time they had an actual Motocycle racer go against the lambo, and he freakin killed it.

I think on the street bikes are way faster then cars, it just depends how much much you value your life and wanna push it :P
