What Handguns Do You Suggest
if you want reliability, dont customize it. Ive got two carry guns, glock 23, and a glock 27 (baby glock).. both are .40, and both work flawlessly.
I use a kydex IWB(in the waist band) holster for both.

I keep a 9mm USP Compact for my carry / car gun.
My Shotgun stays by the door or in my bedroom for the house.
There's nothing my Remington magnum 870 can't blow a hole through yet its soft enough not to go through a window or wall and kill my neighbor. It's the ultimate home defense. I'd never carry a pistol in my house unless it was a last resort.

SA-XD FTW...get an xd9 service (4") with some federal premium Hydra shok's...I have heard a few different theories on the 9....one being a well placed 9 round is better than a .45 miss and 40 and 45s can get expensive to shoot and you said you would be going every once in awhile and are broke. You will be a better shooter with a 9, plus it holds 15+1 if memory serves me correctly.... I know a guy that has a 9 and a guy that had a .45....Not to discredit the .45 it definitely is a nice gun and i would definitlely love a 1911 .45 but i think people just like to say they own a 45...If you are into the taurus's check out the judge kinda fun to shoot and probably the only taurus gun id trust....good ole' S&W and Sig Sauer always makes good guns...I have heard good things about Kahr also Best of luck to ya....
Night sights... Some people like em..others dont...Im not a big fan of them. Clearing your house in the dark cause you know your way around and you dont want someone to see where you are, someone else sees your gun glowing like a ricer on a saturday night at walmart...
they aim for the glow, you take a shot in the dark...
but of course they do have their up-sides too...

Someone mentioned the Taurus Judge but I hadn't looked into it. This is what I found:

The left target is a Colt .45. The right is a Taurus Judge. Both at 6'. Might have to rethink the shotgun myself now

As a veteran of Bosnia, My 1st. Sergeant and I only used Colt .45 1911's. The Beratta 9mm hadn't had the knockdown power the .45 to stop someone in their tracks. 9mm would only wound them to charge at us kamikaze style to try to take a couple of us with them. .45 once to center mass changes their whole attitude, hands down.
I still feel to this day, our .45's saved our lives!
