I am with getting a shot gun. The sound of the pump at night makes a burglar shyt themselves. I as far as personal defense, Glock 19 with a round combo in this order FMJ, HP, Black Talon. FMJ just bc, HP bc if they do not go down the HP will make them go down, and black talon just in case they run and make it behind something I can still get to them. Yeah I do not play far but I do not have to anymore per say.

Why not? in a shoulder holster my colt is easier to hide and more comfortable than my others, i'm 6'5" 250 i can hide a gun that big without much issue.
And on the intimidation subject: This isn't a movie. You don't stand there in silence and rack a slide in hopes to scare someone who's breaking into your house. If you're in fear of your life, you should already have one in the chamber and be ready with the attacker in the site picture if possible. I will.
I'm not big on giving away my location in hopes that a crackhead is gonna identify and care about the sound of me chambering and decide to run away. It's an "urban gun myth" type deal that's perpetuated by action movies and testosterone. Every second counts when you're woken up in the middle of the night and no part of my plan involves "tactical application of gun sounds".
And Z.... come on, man. You aren't supposed to buy your firearms from the back of Ratso's Van...
