Well it happened to me
After almost 2 years of riding, i have my first drop. Pulled the bike out of the garage to take a nice little ride because it warmed up to 50 today here in NJ, Pulled it out onto the drivway and started it to warm it up, unfortunately i put it at an odd angle so 2 seconds after i get off to go gear up i hear a SMACK.... and shes laying on her side
Damage isnt that horrible, snapped the end of the clutch lever, a little scratching on the fairing, bar end, and mirror (previous owner scraped it on the wall a little in his garage on the same side so it that side wasnt perfect anyway) but the only thing that stinks is that the coolant reservior behind the fairing got cracked also and the bike shop doesnt have it in stock so no riding for me which i think is the worst part of the whole thing.... o well lesson learned

aww i hate hearing bikes getting dropped and i even hate it more when it happens to me.
well at least it went down on its side when you weren't on it on the streets at like 50mph or something....
something that the riding school i went to always taught me, when getting off the bike, turn the handle bars pointing to the left and give it a tug towards you as you're getting off the bike.
don't let it happen again!..lol

I feel you. I have been riding for 8 years and actually dropped mine on the road today. 35-40 mph lowside. I went riding and came around a corner on the parkway only to be confronted by a road covered in snow. Worst feeling ever watching your bike slide away from you as you slide behind it. Luckily it was mostly cosmetic, no mechanical damage. 800 bucks and you'll never know she was down. I will however be putting frame slliders on it when i get the new lower next month.
Know what is worse? Having your garage collapse under tons of snow and ice. Crushed fuel tank, punctured seat, and the plastic (off the bike at the time) smashed into hundreds of pieces. All six bikes damaged in one way or another...Mother nature is a frosty bitch sometimes.
I too had my first drop this warm weekend. Was taking her up and down the street, and at one end its too narrow to make the turn in one smooth motion, you have to go in and pull the clutch and back it up then go. Well it just so happens that this spot is in the shade, hence there was still a bit of ice and water there. I go to turn around, out goes my foot, and down goes my bike. A bit of rash on the left faring, stator cover and tailpiece aswell as a broken mirror. A good lesson learned to not go riding on wet snow covered roads, even if it is 55 degrees out.

Had this happen shortly after my bike was painted.
