The roads around here in central NY aren't bad, in fact many of them are pretty descent, even with plows and salt. The main contender are frost heaves and tar snakes. That's okay, the tire only slips the width of the tar snake.

where are you at? Ithaca here. hit me up and we can ride sometime.

I'm 10 minutes east of Syracuse, just off the 481 exit of the thruway.
Nice, well ill have to hit you up on my way to Turning Stone sometime.. although i havent been to TS in probably 5months

Jules,

Out of curiosity, what are cops like over there/do you have to deal with them much?

Eric...I don't have problems myself...I tend to go out on these roads during the week when quieter rather than weekends...the speed limit on them is 60mph and I'll often bimble along at 70-80mph maybe touch 90mph here and there but I'm sensible and don't hang around at silly speeds too long.

Most of my riding is done in Wales, great roads and beautiful scenery...I know sometimes at the weekends the police will swoop down and catch all the speeding bikers but it's as much for safety as anything else...so many older riders who should know better just over cook it on these good roads, treat them like a race track and lose it....

So I just go out during the week ride sensibly and don't think about the speed too much...

Bleh...I wish cops where less common around here. I know they have a job to do, but cops in general around here have a bias against motorcycles, especially street bikes. I have been pulled over 3 times since I got mine, and I just get irritated because they generally don't have any reason to. I got pulled over by a cop one night who claimed that I failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.....I had the bike in neutral and was actually changing songs on my Ipod......I think he was more interested in what I was doing riding at 12:30 in the morning, but case in point.
