Thanks PG. Just trying to understand it as I will be practicing new techniques on the track when the bike is back up.

Thanks for that link M. I know that trail braking w/ the rear brake should be left to professionals..but realistically how hard is it and what effects does it have on the bike? I know if you put too much rear brake into the turn, you could highside.

Trail braking is not done with the rear. It is done with the front. By using the front brake a smidge you shorten up the trail (as in rake and trail) and make the turning geometry more aggressive.
