Default toggle my woggle

i have a quick question... I live in nebraska and i have installed an on off toggle switch for my headlights and taillight... is this illegal? If so... **** it... but i would really like to know just cause. I may need to make them a bit more discreet.

Thankyou much

The actual modification is not illegal, however, riding on the streets with both your headlights AND taillights disabled may be. go to your state'd DMV website, and check the local laws.

That way you'll know if flipping the switch in front of the POPO is wise or not.

That said, why would you want to be even more invisible than we already are? We have enough innatentive drivers that "just didn't see us" as it is.

i do believe that everywhere i nthe US you need a headlight and taillight...im not sure though. The euro models allready come with a switch in the right handlebars to turn headlights on or off, same as the car switch. Ambers on, headlights off, all off, or all on.

Don't see why not if cars are able to do it.

The modification itself is not illegal, but riding on the street could be, depending on the state. I have a toggle switch to turn off the low beam when I'm not using it, and because I have HID headlamps. I start the bike, then turn on the headlamps on.

But why would you want to kill the taillight too?

Same reason I used to in a car when I was a stupid kid......... getting chaced by the cops, as soon as you get out of their sight, kill the lights, slam on the brakes, make a turn and watch the cops go flying by.......

Not recomended at all.........

kw hasn't really explained why he wanted a cutoff switch but I like to cut my lights off when pulling out of parking places at apartment complexes at night so I don't light up the first floor rooms as I swing my vehicle around.
