Lightbulb Radiator fan toggle switch???

Hey guys I have been trying to put a bypass toggle on the radiator fan for my 93 cbr900rr.
I assumed it would be similar as some of the newer model cbr's but when I hook a wire to the fan fuse wire and the negetive battery cable I keep blowing main fuses and fan fuses.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

ok i did this to mine and it was really easy. you need a standard on/off switch ( which i assume you have ). take one wire from the switch and ground it on the frame or fairing mount. with the other splice it into the temp sensor ( single wire sender at bottom of radiator on the left ) turn the power on flick the switch and the fan should start up.
Basically with this your by-passing the switch hitting the temp and grounding out to start the fan and grounding it out any time you want it on.

??? That sounds like a dead short.

The way it works on newer bikes is you find the ground wire that goes to your fan relay. Then you ADD another ground wire that goes to the same location on the relay and run it through an on/off switch. Switch the added ground wire, not the +12V or the ground wire that's already there.

Doing it this way lets you turn the fan on manually whenever you want but it will still come on when the temp gets high enough to turn on automatically, even if the switch is off. You're not bypassing anything this way or defeating the automatic fan operation.

ok sorry i mis-quoted my self.

By splicing into the wire your adding a wire not removing the normal fan operation. the temp sensor still operates the fan just as normal, you just get the option to turn it on earlier or longer with the switch
