its nice to get caught in the midst of myths like this. but if you just rationally think about it for a second there have been many occurences in which according to the modern calender would have been 6/6/6 several times before, and not even going into the fact that back in the day the calenders were completely different, making our dates today atomically incorrect and not in accordance with what 666 would have really been. for example, the years: 06/06/0006, 06/06/0066, 06/06/0666, 06/06/1006, 06/06/1066, 06/06/1666. so as you can see it this situation obviously has passed before, there was just not a hollywood to take advantage of it.


THE STORY ABOUT 666:

"In the Bible the most mysterious number is 666 which is the number of a man, says Revelation. Numerous attempts have been made to match this number with past dictators beginning with Nero Caesar of Rome. In Latin, if we add the number value of the letters of his name NERON, 50+6+500+60+50 = 666 (see William Barclay, Revelation , Vol 2, p.102,The Westminster Press, 1976). If the last N is dropped, we get 616, which is found in some ancient copies of Revelation. If the Hebrew name of Nero is used, and Hebrew number values are used, we get 666 for Nero Caesar. While these ideas are intriguing, they usually require many odd preconditions (you have to start with 100, you cannot include the first name) and work in a few languages only (in Spanish, for example, "HITLER" adds up to 668.)

In the King James Version,Revelation 13:18 reads:
Here is wisdom: let him who hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred three score and six.

In the Good News Bible, the same verse runs:
This calls for wisdom. Whoever is intelligent can figure out the meaning of the number of the beast, because the number stands for the name of someone. Its number is 666.

Mentions outside Revelation

The number 666 is also seen in the Old Testament Old Testament book of II Chronicles; verse 9:13 reads (KJV) and in its parallel (1Ki 10:14):

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold....


The number is also in the genealogy (Ezr Book of Ezra 2:13, (see also Neh 7:18):

The children of Adonikam, six hundred sixty and six.

There are various theories about the meaning of this verse, and there have been many attempts to show that a person is the Antichrist by relating his name to the number 666.

One interpretation is simply that 666 represents humankind in general because of the special significance that the number has in the Bible. Six is known as an "imperfect number" because it is one short of seven, EHandler: no quick summary. Follow link. (the "perfect number" (seven days in the week, seven tongues of flame, seven spiritual gifts...). So three (the number of the Trinity) sixes is seen as extremely imperfect. Therefore, 666 represents imperfect man, while 777 represents God.

So how long did it take you to write that stuff. I type slow so it would have taken me about 2 or 3 days with a few bathroom breaks and food breaks not to mention naps.

 

actually i just copy and pasted most of it, its all sourced. took longer finding what i was looking for, i saw something on the history channel a while back talking about 666 and was trying to find it printed somewhere. funny thing is they all showed George W Bush = 666 and some other ones i couldnt find online.
