So at about 5pm, a giant wind storm came thru columbus oh and knocked out power to the whole city. I'm stuck here with no power posting on my blackberry. They say it could be about a week until we get power back since all of the power plant people are down in houston from the hurricane. Sucks

 

Oh yeah, not only did the power get knocked out, but my bike got knocked over and out... Yet again. Topheavy Tina (my bikes name) is living up to her reputation...

Lived in Culda -Sac for 16 years, so we all knew each other pretty well, we had bush fires go through the place & fried a few wires, blew up the big transformer for our street. No power, did not know how long it would be either, 1st they said a few days, ended up being more like two weeks.
For the 1st days, we could not even get out of the area for anything, so all the neighbours used to get together for a Barbie (everyones fridges & freezers where not working) so rather than waste food going bad, we would of course have to drink beer & wine before it went bad to, we would have sing alongs, huddled around camp lights, looking at the still smoldering embers up in the bush. Novelty wore off after about 5 days in. No hot showers, no TV, wife making unfair advantage of the situation etc. Kept ringing the bloody electricty company, told fixed soon.
After about a week I finally relented & went & stayed with In-laws

Yeah, we got the smackdown from the wind here in Pittsburgh too. I was watching the Steelers game in 1080i on my new 46" LCD Samsung, and the power went out in the 2nd quarter. BLEHHHHHHH. Still not back on as of this morning.

 

Ike misssed me by 20 miles, and didn't have a single drop of rain. It could have been bad but I would have at least liked to have had my lawn watered.

 

yeah we got the huge wind store in cincinnati and it knowcked my power out for 10hrs....there still 600,000 people without power...it blew trees over on houses in my neighborhood and all kinds of limbs from our tress are all over, but no damage to my house/cars.

but we have no cable/internet/phone...makes for a boring night...so I am at work now with internet access...

 

Just got back to work. I brought my: laptop, cell phone, DVD player, and iPod. All charging for another night of loneliness without anything... Well, I might go to the bars tonight instead. I'll post up the damage to my bike when I get back. Nothing serious or even really noticable.
