And you need the gun for what???
And you need the gun for what???
in 1988, i was just barely old enough to speak, my dad was held up at gunpoint just a few blocks from the superdome while he was walking to his car to come home from work. he was shot once in the shoulder and another shot was fired before his pistol was out and he put the guy down. nobody likes the idea of shooting anyone, at least not normal people, and everyone obviously knows that people use guns to do terrible things. but the ONLY thing that matters to me is that if my dad hadn't had his handgun on him that night, i would have lost him at 2 years old.
no disrespect whatsoever: i see you're from canada, really a very safe place, so lemme throw this at you: in the city i live in, new orleans, we usually have more homicides per year than the entire country of canada, and its a pretty small city at only 400k or so people. but lets not even get into that because its sad. point is, violent crime is everywhere, and just because i may choose not to carry a firearm sure as hell does not mean that potential muggers and the like will choose the same to make things fair. i want a gun because it's my right, and because i would like the chance to defend myself in the event that my life were put in danger.
