Default Speedtraps, cell phones, and thieves

Arlington Makes Top Speed-Trap List

The National Motorists Associations said drivers in Arlington are more likely to encounter law enforcement with radar detectors.

"Our police department is very proactive in getting out there, providing our officers with the equipment -- lasers and radars -- to go out there and change driving behavior," Lt. Blake Miller said.

Police said dangerous driving is the No. 1 complaint they hear from residents, and speed traps are a way to slow people down.

Some drivers said they think public safety isn't the only reason for the enforcement.

"I think it's a fabulous way to generate revenue for the city," Geni Tutwiler said.

The entire country is a speed trap. The government encourages fast cars to be sold to allow police organizations to further tax the people. With the legal speed limit 70 MPH, why aren't cars/vehicles governed for 70 or 80 mph? This would be a simple inexpensive mod, the reason is the local, state and Federal government want your money. They want your gas taxes, they want your speed taxes, they want to tax the earnings on the insurance companies and speed radar manufacturers. The lawyers want fast cars and lobby for them to give themselves some work. We are dumb enough to believe that it is 'freedom' that allows fast cars, it is simply a tax on stupidity. The only way to fight speed traps are by slowing down. The entire system would collapse if there were no tickets to write. It is obvious that speed enforcement doesn't slow people down, the only thing that will slow people down if for people to realize that they are in control and a few weeks of not speeding would crush the system and allow them to drive like the mental patients most of are. ANARCHY ANARCHY ANARCHY!!!!.

FLORIDA
Worst speed trap: Waldo
Dishonorable Mention: Lawtey, Ocala, Orlando

waldo is a small town near where i live, never been pulled over there but its because i know better.

every one hates speed traps, I hate speed traps, but they only catch you if you are breaking the speed limit, slow down it aint hard.

Fishgryer527, I highly dout the traffic inforcement world would collapse after a few weeks of not speeding, even a few years. cops would just focus on real crime, and when people started speeding again they would dust off their radar guns and start writing some tickets. Plus while tickets do make money, the main reason is to keep people from dieing, if you crash going 120mph you chances of living are not to good, alot less then 70 or gasp 55mph, of course no did or is going to drive 55.

It's good that bikes are not limited to the speed limits.

More freedom for the buyer and rider.

Also, if you were limited to a top speed of say 70mph, then how would you pass someone on the road or track who
may be acting as a hazard?

Sometimes slowing down or braking is not the way out of a possible accident.

Trust me, if you think about it, you never want speed regulated cars, trucks, or bikes.

There is enough government regulation now.

For instance, in the U.S. they have restricted manufacturers from delivering a bike to the showroom that off the floor does more
than 186 mph.

Your speedometer might say 187...or that you are going 200mph, but that's an error.

You are not really going that fast.

All I am saying is the system is set up to collect money, not slow people down, if people slowed down the system would change because it was no longer meeting its financial goals.

That's true. But there are times when...well...it's been debated before many times.

Nevermind.
