So, dare I say it??
No, its fine ..everyone experiences this time of year differently ..I feel it badly too, the almost complete loss of my family recently so although I love the quiet peaceful time, the stillness and time out ... it does evoke deep emotions within me and I long with all my heart to be back in time with them all again, alas it will never be .. I remember them and light candles for them ... its a wonderful time for families but some people feel their loneliest at this time ... the spirit is the most sensitive at this time

Got the tree up yesterday. I always get a real one. There's nothing like coming into the house after being out and smelling that hint of evergreen. It just smells like Christmas. Sorry the photograph is so poor.

Yer , its fine if you have little kids at home still...
but as you get older , wiser and possibly allot more skeptical......
it does get very close to the Barr Humbug stage..
We have seven grand kids these days , all under 6....so we have been dragged back into the Christmas thing kicking and screaming once again ...
Personally .... I think it has lost near all of its joy because of the blatant and totally over whelming commercialization of everything to do with it...
BTW..I am no uncle scrooge either
I just think it is all over rated these days..

Classic, You could go back a 100 years & more or less say the same thing, the methods of getting us to part with the reddies is just easier. But I do agree with though. I love Christmas day Aussie style. Many years ago my poor mother (& Aunties & Grandmother) trying to emulate our English heritage by cooking the traditional 'hot' chrissie dinner, usually on stinking hot 100 degree day (in the old money) which after we gorged ourselves, rendered most of us unconscious till we woke later, heading off to the beach (just like the other 99% of the population) to try out our new flippers & kickboards. These days we go for the colder style, prawns, prawns, thai style salads, prawns, cold meats & ok, some hot pudding (not with prawns). I love christmas day, I'm usually pissed by the time the 1st of our family arrive & well passed it by the time we eat (we have a big family), then rendered unconscious by the beer (& yes the heat), before being dragged off to the beach to watch the younger members of the family try out their new flippers & computerised & digitally controlled kick boards.

we actually have the eith grand child only a few mths away mate ...
yup ..om only 53 and 8 friggin grand kids ..
I have banned them from all turning up together ...ever!!!
Even 4 at a time is like creating my own war zone!!!..[:-] I call them a bloody bunch of tiny terrorists..

and the kids do not like me calling them that either
(our kids/the parents of the grand kids that is)
I am the same ...half pissed by noon from sipping coldies while I prepare salads and the COLD meats (usually)
I always hope it is as hot as **** mate , so they all bugger off to the beach after they have eaten and near destroyed the place..
All good I spose though mate

I like it. Not keen on getting it rammed down my throat by the TV and all that. Although, love to see my kids get hyper. I supose I just enjoy an opportunity to have friends and family around. Even when it does not mix well.
