Default So, dare I say it??

The dreaded "Christmas" word ..lol

I was just sitting here and wondering what everybody might be upto over Christmas??

When to get a tree up?? ... you dont want too early because they wilt somewhat, I do like a live tree because of the smell ..love or loathe Christmas and I will be the first to say I hate the commercialism, true meaning has been swallowed in a crap fest, but I do love this quiet time of year and having the tree in the living room ..that faint smell everytime you walk in to the room, always reminds me of family Christmas"s gone by ..its amazing isnt it how smells can evoke such emotional memories

I am not big on decorations everywhere but I do like a nice tree in the corner with lights and tastefully decorated ... its so cosy to watch the TV by the fire with the lamps dimmed and the tree lights on :-)

My task is to put up lights today and the tree will come next weekend (about three weeks before) Hate the gift part of the holiday, people spend or feel obligated to purchase items for people they cant afford and put themselves in a bind. But other then that I enjoy the holiday.

I don't have a set tree time, but it *used* to be the day after Thanksgiving (today). I usually let my team take vacation during the holidays and I stay and get work done while no ones in the way. I'll take time off during the warmer months and do outdoor activities.

Im not really a fan of Christmas, My g/f is really into it though, so she'll be putting up the tree and decorating this year, before she came along i didnt do either of those things.. I feel really akward around family, dont know why its just not my thing, so christmas eve usually consists of myself and a couple buddies, who are in the same postion, going out to a bar or strip club for the night. Who would have thought a strip club was open till 3 in the morning on Christmas eve? i sure didnt, God bless those exotic dancers they are the hardest working people i know.

Yes, it can be if people treat it the right way ..its the crap fest and gift fest that I hate ..everyone spending money on each other that they cant afford, just to buy stupid presents no one wants .. I think everyone should just buy themselves something instead that way we always get what we want and only have to buy ONE present ..sorted!! ..lol I have a really funny article about this when I find it ..you guys will love it.

The nice part, the right part ..being home with the family ..having that quiet time and just being together ...cosy indoors, chilling out watching tv, reading, sleeping ... and if it snows, all the better ..we have this great mountain near us called Moel Famu that we go sledging down in the snow ..I have a pic somewhere :-)

I do like Christmas time. I put a few things out today on the mantle and fireplace. I will probably go and get a tree next weekend or so, it wouldnt be the same if i didnt. I definatly dont feel the spirit this year like i normally do though. Just missing that special someone to share it with. Thats the one time of year i love to just pour all my heart and soul into someone else. Oh well i guess, i will still be visiting family at least. Ok im done putting a downer on your thread Jules, sorry.
