Default SM riders?

Sooooo I am seriously thinking of keeping my rocket on the track and getting a sm for the street.

This is a question for you sm riders out there. What sm do you ride? What sm would you suggest and why?

I am a "bigger" guy so I will need to look at something that will have some kind of poop to get me up to freeway speed, however that is not the most important for me. Next season I will be doing my first novice season of racing, sooo i will be able to get my speed rushes on the track. However I still want to have fun on the street.

These are the choices I have come up with but want some good info and feedback of what is available out there for a good sm bike.

The reason these are the only ones I have picked are due to the fact that they are the only two I have ridden. The drz was fun, but only got about an hours worth of seat time on it.
I have actually been able to ride the ktm on the track for a session and had a blast. Neither of which I have been able to take off road yet.....but am looking forward to doing soon.

Soooooo.....what other bikes should I take into consideration. Keep in mind I am trying to find one at a "affordable" price. Which for me will be between the 4-7k dollar range.
Pardon me for my ignorance, but what does honda offer that would be good for a sm?

and no.....I did not do a search.

I dont know if you are specificlly looking for new DW, or if it has to be a SM. If not have you considered a Suzuki SV, they can be had used pretty cheap and are great little bikes too. You prolly already have, but thought i would throw it out there for ya. I have 0 SM experience btw, so im no help there.

I am really looking for a bike that can be a tard.....or one right out of the box that is a tard......

We have some really good roads around here that are surrounded by dirt roads....I want the option to go ride the twisties.....then jump on teh dirt for a bit......I want my cake and eat it too......

Everything review I've read makes it sound as if these machines are not suited to dual use. Either decent on road or off but not both ... and not excellent at either. Riding twisties you're gonna need good rubber. Not gonna help you much in the dirt. And if you do have a decent set of knobbies on there and try dragging a knee in the curves you will discover Chainstretcher's theory of low side really quick.

i see this bike as cool, and ok at on and off road, but not really that GREAT in either situation, mostly because of tires....

Those ktm supermotards are really nice.. I had ridden before; just need some time adjusting with the handles for me.
